Mirror Mirror on the wall, whose the biggest bigot of them all?
So i was reading the movie reviews today and Mr. insufferable (aka Emraan hashmi, twin of Himesh Reshamiya or vice versa) has a movie called Crook out which is about the Indian bashings in Aussieland. So in the entire thing this one line really caught my attention- both the Indians and the Aussies are equally racist. don't get me wrong you'd still have to shoot me dead before i go and get brain hemorrhage from Mr. insufferable's acting but at least one film-maker is ready to see our part too in all of this. This entire media portrayal of us as simply the innocent victims and what not is simply one sided. And isn't the media by definition supposed to be a neutral element? Their job is to present the facts not twist it further. I'm not saying the Aussies are right, I'm saying that we have to wake up to our own fault in this. I mean how would you feel if you were denied a job, one that you desperately need and later find out that some outsider got it instead? It's human nature. And honestly it'd happen here too... hell its already happening here. Invasion is one word that really gets to us. It brainwashes us so completely that we refuse to see reason. The Aussies just want one thing- they want their jobs to remain with them. And honestly its fair. These people, most of them are illegal aliens. They take huge loans for 'student' expenses and then when they reach foreign shores work illegally as cab drivers, waiters.. the likes. And people hiring them don't miond cause they do it at less than half the price of a white native. So in the end the alarm bells go ding ding ding. And the 'invasion' must be stopped. If you go watch War of the Worlds you'll know what they're feeling. Also i would like to bring up the issue as to why o' why do most fo us have to go and do this entire- Our superior culture dance in front of them? I thought the whole reason for wanting to go to settle in another country was to learn more about theirs? Not go and slap ours on their faces and go- we're all high n moralistic and you're all sluts... What gives? Also guys, just cause the idiotland of India (aka Bollywood) likes to portray their women as loose doesn't make it true. I've heard enough from friends abroad about how 'brownies' like to behave that all their women want to do is to have sex with anything that moves and also how they shroud themselves among their own cliques and gangs of saas-bahu addicts. If you scream tolerance at them, think about this- are we tolerant ourselves? And lets face it all those fairness cream commercials don't help us much on the anti racism front either. So before yelling at the Aussies, how bout a little lookie in the old mirror first?

I wrote this huge ass comment & when I posted it, some error came up :/ Anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you've realised that we need to stop ignoring problems in our backyard. Having grown up in Melbourne, there are several moments when I've seen certain Indians on the road and thought, "ew". They BLAST Punjabi music from their phones in their train, they oggle and pass loud comments at white girls...and if you're oggling at some tough Italian's girl, obviously he's gonna beat the fuck out of you! And look at Indians back home crying wolf - funny how they claim to be the victims of racism when half of them are part of the rat race to become fair and the old ladies will not marry their sons to "dark girls".
Someone needed to address this topic, I'm glad you did.
It is good to see someone putting things in a simple manner about some of the deep rooted problems facing our society.
ReplyDeleteI mean sometimes we have this flair for over dramatizing the situation and in portraying that we are the victims of racists slurs and abuses all the time.I'm not saying that some of these situations which are brought to light isn't true it is just that one side of the picture.
There is always two sides to a coin and the other ugly side of us where we are the racists bastards ourselves is never portrayed with as much vigour.
You have thrown light on the fairness creams which are one the most striking examples of how hypocritcial we are. One point we are standing for equality demanding equal rights for everyone, making all these reservations for these backward classes for putting them on an equal status as the general strata but then the next minute if we look at one of those bride groom classifieds we can put any "Australian" or any other of those racist people to shame.
Sad but true.
